The 2024 Pirelli GT4 America championship delivered an unforgettable season, marked by new and returning champions, intense on-track battles, and a title race that wasn’t decided until the final showdown in Indianapolis. Spanning across seven exhilarating race weekends, with thirteen rounds in total, the series captivated fans nationwide, making stops at iconic circuits and vibrant cities.
As SRO America looks ahead to an exciting 2025 season ahead, it’s time to take a moment to review the highlights from this past year.
• All three class championships in the Silver, Pro-Am, and Am categories were decided in the final rounds at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, with season-long battles between teams coming down to the final laps of the year.
• In the Silver class, the margins were incredibly slim between RS1 and Random Vandals Racing, with very few points separating the two teams heading into the very last round of the year. With no room for error on either side, there were ebbs and flows as the race progressed, with the advantage shifting from one team to the next until a twist of events saw RS1 emerge victorious. As a result, John Capestro-Dubets claimed his first title, while Eric Filgueiras became a three-time SRO America champion.
• A highly successful season for ACI Motorsports’ Curt Swearingin and Kay van Berlo ended off with the duo being awarded the Pro-Am class championship. They claimed four wins and five podiums, with their consistency allowing them to build up enough of a gap to the rest of the field to clinch the title with one race remaining.
• Comparatively, in the Am class, the championship was only decided in the final corner of the last race of the season. With three different teams in the fight, it was anyone’s guess as to who would come out on top. However, everyone’s fate was decided in dramatic fashion as the Random Vandals Racing machine slowed to a halt just a couple of corners shy of the finish line, allowing Rotek Racing’s Robb Holland and Jaden Lander to move ahead and clinch the title as the checkered flag waved to conclude the season.
• Notably, 2024 also saw the introduction of the inaugural Lone Star Enduro, a three-hour race in the Pirelli GT4 America series held at Circuit of The Americas. The first edition of the event saw Random Vandals Racing win in the Silver and Am classes, with BimmerWorld taking the Pro-Am victory.
• There were 18 different winning teams across all three classes, with RS1 in the Silver category being the winningest of them all, accumulating a total of five victories.
• Ten different drivers earned the Fastest Lap Award across thirteen rounds. However, only two drivers were able to record the fastest lap of the race on multiple occasions, with Zac Anderson going quickest at Sonoma Raceway and Circuit of The Americas, while Kenton Koch was the fastest driver on track at VIRginia International Raceway, Road America, and Barber Motorsports Park.
• The series stacked up 436 laps over the course of the year, with the Lone Star Enduro making up 74 laps. Meanwhile, in the 60-minute sprint endeavors, Race 1 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway had the most laps completed, with 39.
