Lone Star Enduro Delivers Drama and Breakthroughs, with Random Vandals Racing, RS1, and BimmerWorld Claiming Double Point Wins
  • Random Vandals Racing Victorious Overall and in Pro-Am
  • RS1 Claims Silver Class Win
  • BimmerWorld Rise Above in Am Class

Pirelli GT4 America’s Lone Star Enduro delivered an intense and thrilling showdown at Circuit of The Americas to wrap up the Saturday action at CieloVision GT World Texas powered by Samsung. Resilience and late-race decisive moves defined the three-hour battle. Across all three classes, dramatic lead changes, full course cautions, and standout performances kept the entire field on their toes from green flag to checkered.

In the end, it was Random Vandals Racing’s Pro-Am pairing of Kenton Koch and Sam Craven who took home the overall victory in the No. 94 BMW M4 GT4 (G82) EVO. The Silver class win was awarded to the No. 028 RS1 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport of Luca Mars and Spencer Pumpelly. In the Am category, BimmerWorld’s James Walker Jr. secured his third triumph in the event, this time alongside teammate James Clay in the No. 36 BMW machine.

Silver Class

Starting from pole position, Westin Workman controlled the early stages of the race in the No. 68 RAFA Racing Team Toyota Gazoo Racing GR Supra GT4 EVO2, cleanly maintaining the lead off the start and quickly building a gap over the field. Following the first round of pit stops, Tyler Gonzalez took over driving duties and continued to extend that advantage until a full course caution neutralized the race and erased the margin.

On the restart with 1 hour and 45 minutes remaining, Gonzalez delivered a composed and determined stint, holding off sustained pressure from Spencer Pumpelly in the No. 028 RS1 Porsche. However, the complexion of the race shifted at the halfway mark when the No. 68 RAFA Racing entry, which had been a contender for the class lead, had to address a transponder issue in pit lane that dropped it to fourth in class.

Francis Seldorff then moved into the overall lead for the No. 51 AutoTechnic BMW ahead of RS1’s Luca Mars, though Mars soon found a way through to reclaim the top spot. Meanwhile, Workman mounted an aggressive charge back through the field, navigating lapped traffic in an effort to close the gap to the leaders.

In the closing stages, AutoTechnic’s Kevin Boehm made a bold move on Pumpelly, diving down the inside to take the lead, but the pair made contact in the process. Behind them, Random Vandals Racing’s Josh Green capitalized on the battle ahead to move past Gonzalez in his No. 98 BMW and secure a podium position.

Post-race penalties ultimately reshaped the final outcome. While the No. 51 AutoTechnic BMW initially received a 35-second penalty for repeated track limits violations that did not affect its position, a subsequent 41-second penalty for incident responsibility involving the RS1 Porsche dropped the team off the podium entirely. RS1 was therefore awarded the class victory, accompanied by Random Vandals Racing in second, and RAFA Racing Team in third.

Pro-Am Class

While things remained steady in the opening portion of the race, at the halfway point, the Pro-Am field featured notable gaps between the leaders, with NOLASPORT’s Matt Travis controlling the race from the front in his No. 47 Porsche. Sam Craven ran second in the No. 94 Random Vandals Racing BMW, while Allen Patten held third position for Dome Motorsport in the No. 39 Mercedes-AMG GT4.

The order remained largely unchanged through the cycle of driver changes, but a second full course caution brought the field back together and set the stage for a dramatic finish.

When racing resumed, Random Vandals Racing’s Kenton Koch wasted no time making his move, diving down the inside of NOLASPORT’s Matheus Leist to seize the Pro-Am lead. From there, Koch pulled away decisively, securing both the class victory and the overall win. Leist held on to finish second, while Ryan Yardley and teammate Damir Hot steadily worked their way forward in the No. 25 ACI Motorsports Porsche to claim third in class.

“ In all of our stints, we had to hustle and earn every pass,” shared Sam Craven. “Nothing was easy. I mean, the move that Kenton made there at the end was incredible.”

“Sam and I both had our fair share of effort in this race,” echoed Kenton Koch. “That was quite something. I don't think we had the best overall pace today, but we had some luck on our side and we made it count when we needed to.”

Am Class

The Am category saw its share of early drama when the No. 21 ACI Motorsports BMW of Alex and Michael Garcia suffered a mechanical issue and came to a stop on track just after the opening hour, triggering a full course yellow.

Out front, BimmerWorld’s pairing of James Clay and James Walker Jr. established a commanding advantage, controlling the race through the middle stages. Meanwhile, additional incidents further down the order added to the race’s attrition.

With less than an hour remaining, Kris Wilson moved into the class lead with the No. 413 Flying Lizard Motorsports, with Walker Jr. running second and Rafael Martinez third in the No. 72 RAFA Racing Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2. However, the ensuing pit stop cycle reshuffled the order, dropping Flying Lizard Motorsports back to third.

Another full course caution with just over 30 minutes remaining set up a final sprint to the finish. BimmerWorld maintained control to secure the Am class victory, marking James Walker Jr.’s third consecutive Lone Star Enduro win. RAFA Racing Team completed the race in second, with Flying Lizard Motorsports rounding out the podium.

“ We've got a great car this season and we showed it here,” stated James Clay. “The double points matter a lot. It's too early in the season to say more, but I think we're on a good path right now.”

“For me, the motivation is to get this team another championship this year,” concluded James Walker Jr. “It's our race and it's under our control. What happens to other cars on track is nice to know and provides us with good data, but we have to do our own thing. We may not be the fastest or the most glamorous. But you know what? This team just gets it done and that's all the motivation I need.”
