Murillo Posts Quickest GT4 America SprintX Time at Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. – Kenny Murillo had the fastest overall GT4 America SprintX/SprintX West time in the first practice session at Portland International Raceway's 12-turn 1.945-mile road course, part of the 59th Annual Rose Cup Races presented by Fastlife.TV. The 45-minute session was held under sunny, 71-degree Fahrenheit conditions.

Early on, Pro/Am SprintX West driver Jon Miller posted the fastest overall time with a 1:18.782 in his #28 ST Racing BMW M4 GT4, while Murillo’s West Pro/Am teammate Christian Szymczak in the #34 Murillo Racing Mercedes-AMG GT4 slotted into second with a 1:18.810. West Pro/Am driver ST Racing’s Jason Wolfe in the #38 BMW M4 GT4 slotted into third overall with a 1:18.828.

Pro/Am team driver Gregory Liefooghe in the #19 Stephen Cameron Racing BMW M4 GT4 then topped the charts with a 1:18.235 while Murillo posted a 1:18.617 to slot into second overall.

With under five minutes in the session, Murillo then jumped to the top with a 1:17.577, while Am driver Kris Wilson piloting the #16 Auto Technic Racing BMW M4 GT4 moved into second on the charts with a 1:18.304. Miller then moved into third overall with 1:18.263. Wilson then improved to a 1:17.999.

At the checkered, Murillo’s time held for quickest overall and top of the West Pro/Am class, while Wilson went quicker with a 1:17.987 to secure second overall on the charts and first in the SprintX Am class. Liefooghe’s time held for third overall on the charts and tops in the Pro/Am Sprint X category.

Miller’s time of 1:18.263 was good for fourth overall and second in the West Pro/Am division, while NOLASPORT's Matt Travis in the #47 Porsche 718 Cayman CS MR posted the fifth fastest time with a 1:18.442, good for second in the Pro/Am class. Frank Gannett in the #24 Ian Lacy Racing Ford Mustang GT4 had the sixth fastest time (1:18.628), good for the top of the West Am division.

GT4 America SprintX and SprintX West teams next take to the track at 3:20 pm PST for the second practice session of the day. Qualifying begins Saturday, July 13 at 9:35 am PDT, with the first SprintX race set for a green flag start later that day at 2:15 pm PDT.
