Dexter Racing Follow Up Successful GT4 America Debut with Sights on Watkins Glen

28 August 2019 Sprint

Dexter Racing will head into the final three rounds of the 2019 GT4 America Championship in SprintX competition. Watkins Glen International is next up for the Nebraska-based team following a successful debut at the previous GT4 America round at Portland International Raceway.

Brothers Warren Dexter and Ryan Dexter showed surprising rookie pace by putting the #63 Dexter Racing Ginetta G55 3rdon the grid for race #1, a noteworthy highlight from the Portland weekend.

Although the track was new to both drivers and team, Dexter Racing previously fielded a Ginetta G55 to a Trans-am championship in 2018. “We wanted to come into the GT4 America series strong,” stated Warren Dexter. “It was important that we applied the team’s knowledge of the car and tires for this first event.”

While familiarity with the car and Pirelli tires were a benefit in the team’s debut, the SprintX format of driver changes and pit time deltas were a new challenge.

“The team had limited experience in the format” admitted team owner Zane Dexter, “but we made the most of the official practices to hone in our pit stop deltas and driver change strategy.”

The practice paid off as the team registered zero penalties for the weekend and registered pit lane visits within a 1.5 second delta from rules minimums. A resounding success for a team debut in a new format.

The team heads to Watkins Glen International with the #63 Dexter Racing Ginetta G55. Ben Anderson will be alongside Warren Dexter for SprintX competition – the team aiming for another successful result at the storied New York circuit.

The team hopes to finalize a second Ginetta G55 for Road America SprintX competition September 20-22nd as it starts preparation for a two car team for the 2020 season. Interested funded drivers can contact Dexter Racing at
