Park Place Motorsports Returns to The Glen

DALLAS – Park Place Motorsports returns to SRO Pirelli GT4 America action with driver and sponsor Alan Brynjolfsson and co-driver Trent Hindman at Watkins Glen International after a two-month hiatus from the series.

The #7 and #77 VOLT Lighting Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR make a return to competition for both the Sprint and SprintX East Championships. Brynjolfsson alone will run the No. 7 VOLT Lighting Porsche Cayman in the Sprint series Am Class and be accompanied by Hindman when running the No. 77 in the SprintX series. Park Place Motorsports currently sits second in the SprintX East Championship. The team is near the title even after missing Round 6 of SprintX East.

Having previous experience at driving Watkins Glen Brynjolfsson and Hindman will pull from past success in hopes of garnering another podium finish with Pirelli GT4 America. Between both series, the team has landed on the podium a total of six times. High profile wins include back-to-back SprintX wins at Circuit of the Americas and a Sprint win on the streets of St. Petersburg, Brynjolfsson’s home-track and first street course.

The Park Place Motorsports team has proven to be a fierce competitor at any course. Now, the series enters a stretch of two races where the team has already raced. Brynjolfsson and Hindman hope to capitalize on the recent exposure to overcome their 20-point deficit in the SprintX East Championship. The goal is to have Park Place Motorsports in fighting position for the grand finale at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in October.

Director of Race Operations Mike Johnson has his eyes set on more than wins these days with Brynjolfsson in contention for the famed Porsche Cup. Porsche offers the Porsche Cup to gentlemen or amateur drivers and awarded at the Night of Champions in December.

“We are really looking forward to going back to the Glen this year,” Johnson said. “With four races on one weekend, it’s going to be busy. Alan is fighting for the Porsche Cup and some good results this weekend could really help him out. We’re always ready for the challenge and this weekend is no different.”

The weekend begins Friday, Aug. 30 with two practice sessions for both Sprint and SprintX East. Saturday, Aug. 31 is a busy day with plenty of on-track action with Sprint Qualifying taking place at 9:10 a.m. ET and SprintX East at 10 a.m. Following qualifying is Race One for both series. Sprint Race One goes green at 2:05 p.m. with SprintX East beginning at 5:50 p.m. The weekend caps off with two races. Sprint Race Two kicks off the day at 9:40 a.m. followed by SprintX East at 1 p.m. All the competitions and qualifying can be viewed live courtesy of the SRO live stream.
