Sexton, Mason Added to Fast Track Racing/Classic BMW M4 Lineup in Pirelli GT4 America Action at COTA March 1-3

PLANO, Tex. – The Fast Track Racing/Classic BMW team has added to its BMW M4 GT4 lineup for the Pirelli GT4 America season-opening weekend at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) on March 1-3 with the addition of veteran drivers Jeff Sexton and Ray Mason in the No. 254 Classic BMW BMW M4 GT4 sports car in SprintX competition.

The combination of Sexton, the Austin, Tex., racer, and Mason, the Columbus, Ohio, driver, takes the Fast Track Racing organization to three Pirelli GT4 America entries in the COTA action which debuts in the new 2019 Blancpain GT World Challenge America road series under SRO ownership.

Joining the Sexton/Mason pairing on March 1-3 for the winning team of the prestigious worldwide BMW World Sports Trophy in 2018 will be the No. 17 Raphael & Associates/Classic BMW BMW M4 GT4 car with Justin Raphael and Stevan McAleer as the drivers along with the No. 92 VETS Indexes/Classic BMW BMW M4 GT4 machine with drivers Toby Grahovec and Chris Ohmacht.

Both Sexton and Mason have been regulars at the state-of-the-art COTA 3.427-mile, 20-turn road circuit east of the Texas’ state capital. Sexton won several TCA features last year in the TC America competition and Mason has been competitive in the last two 24 Hours of COTA.

“I am very excited to be returning to World Challenge and to be moving up to the Pirelli GT4 America SprintX category,” said Sexton, also the Driver Development Manager for the Winding Road Team TFB in Austin. “I can think of no better team to be joining than Classic BMW as they won the prestigious BMW Sports Trophy award in 2018. The BMW M4 GT4 proved last year that it is one of the best GT4 cars and I can’t wait to get started at Circuit of the Americas driving alongside Ray. The COTA event will be a very special race weekend for me as it is my home track. I will have a lot of family and friends in attendance from all over Texas and I am counting down the days!”

“I really enjoy the COTA circuit and I have raced the 24 Hours of COTA the last two years,” said Mason. “I’m very familiar with the track and I’m anxious to go back for the GT4 race with World Challenge and Classic BMW. I have a good time racing in World Challenge. I like those people a lot. Recently I am back driving a little single-seater with wings too in the SCCA. I started with a Formula Ford many years ago with a car I bought from Carl Haas. So, I am having a great time bouncing back and forth from sedans to the single-seaters. In fact, I drove a GT2 Camaro and my open-wheel car on the same weekend. It’s good to gain more seat time in both types of race cars. I’m ready for the COTA weekend in the BMW M4.”

The three Fast Track Racing/Classic BMW GT4 teams will begin practice rounds at COTA on Friday, March 1, with qualifying set for 9 a.m. (CDT) on Saturday, March 2. The two 60-minute Pirelli GT4 America SprintX races are scheduled for 1:05 p.m. (CDT) on Saturday, March 2, and 10.10 a.m. (CDT) on Sunday, March 3. The Fast Track Racing/Classic BMW operation also is scheduled to field BMW M240iR sedans in the Touring Car division at COTA.

All Pirelli GT4 America races at COTA will be live streamed on www.world-challenge.com and will be televised on CBS Sports Network at a later date.
