GT4 Round 5 Action Explodes with Winter Invitational at Thermal Club

Thermal, Calif. - The fifth round of competition for the Winter Invitational series at The Thermal Club did not disappoint in its promise of great racing action. The 31-car field took to the 2.91-mile Southern California track under perfect weather conditions for the next-to-last race of the series.

When the checkered flag dropped, it was Alex Welch in the #14 Audi R8 LMS GT4 that saw it first. The GMG Racing driver turned the fastest lap of 2:10.203 in the competition class as well.

Coming in hot after Welch, PF Racing driver James Pesek drove his American muscle #40 Ford Mustang GT4 to the second step on the podium. Pesek, a regular-season Pirelli GT4 America competitor, entered late in the series timeline but still managed to earn a podium, a feat he'll look to repeat on the second and final race of the weekend and series.

Also in his first time in the series, TC America driver Cole Ciraulo managed to capture a podium on his first outing in GT4 machinery, piloting his #25 BMW M4 GT4 to a third-place win.

The last race of the Winter Invitational series starts tomorrow with the qualifying session taking place at 10:15 am and the green flag dropping on round 6 at 1:00 pm.
