ALTON, Virginia - Andrew Davis paced the first of two combined Pirelli GT4 America Sprint/SprintX practices at VIRginia International Raceway Thursday morning. The 60-minute session was held under overcast 78 degree Fahrenheit conditions.
Early on, Sprint series competitor Jarett Andretti in the #18 Andretti Autosport McLaren 570S went to the top with a 1:55.829. A lap later Sean Quinlan in the #119 Stephen Cameron Racing BMW M4 GT4 bested Andretti with a 1:55.460. Then Sprint/SprintX competitor Davis in the #2 GMG Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 went to the top with a 1:54.382.
Twelve minutes into the session Davis improved his time to a 1:54.327, while Spencer Pumpelly in the #66 TRG Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 slotted into second with a 1:55.290. Andretti then slotted into second with a 1:54.343. SprintX competitor James Walker Jr. moved into third with a 154.517. Walker Jr. will share duties this weekend with Bill Auberlen in the #82 BimmerWorld BMW M4 GT4.
The top positions held for the remainder of the session. At the checkered Davis (1:54.327), Andretti (1:54.343), Walker Jr. (1:54.517), Quinlan (1:54.982) and Pumpelly (1:55.126) ran the five fastest times of the session.
