Rearden Racing Scores Serious Hardware in Pirelli GT4 America Action This Weekend in SRO America Road Racing at Sonoma Raceway

SONOMA, Calif. – Rearden Racing had a sensational winning record at Sonoma Raceway in recent years and that trend continued last weekend in the Pirelli GT4 America racing action, as the Utah-based motorsports organization compiled some serious hardware in the three-day tripleheader race event.

The historic 2.52-mile, 12-turn racing facility in Northern California has been a favorite for the Rearden Racing squad and it showed exactly why with three SRO America wins and a total of seven podium finishes in the GT4 Sprint and GT4 SprintX contests.

In the GT Sprint 50-minute races this weekend, Jeff Burton of Salt Lake City, UT and Paul Terry of Fillmore, UT captured the Sprint Am division in their Rearden Racing machines with Burton taking Sunday’s feature in the No. 191 Burton Lumber Aston Martin Vantage GT4 sports car and Terry piloting his No. 59 Terry Trucking Aston Martin Vantage GT4 machine in Saturday’s main event. In addition, both drivers recorded the fastest race laps in their division this weekend.

Also, Burton, last year’s GT SprintX Am West series champion with Vesko Kozarov, finished third in his other two GT Sprint Am events, while Terry, the GT4 Sprint Am winner at COTA this year, placed second and fourth in his other two races.

"Being up front at the start is a huge advantage here at Sonoma, and the Rearden guys really have the car set up well,” said Burton. “So, tire wear is not that bad. I want to thank those guys at Rearden Racing for giving me a great car!"

Terry raced at the front of the field also, as he battled with some of the professional drivers including overall race winner, Michael Cooper.

“Michael is one hell of a driver, so it was a lot of fun to race clean and race hard and it was excellent for both of us,” said Terry. “It was a great race from start to finish and Rearden Racing gave me a great car!"

The duo of Kris Wilson and John Allen returned to its winning form in the GT4 SprintX Am division at Sonoma Raceway after recording two race victories last month at VIRginia International Raceway in the Rearden Racing-prepared No. 16 Mercedes-AMG sports car.

The Denver, Colo., pairing started the weekend by winning the GT4 Sprint Am pole position (Wilson) and then scored a win on Saturday, second on Sunday and a sixth place on Friday. Wilson also set the fastest race laps in two of the three GT4 SprintX Am events.

“It was a pretty stressful race on Saturday, but I’m learning and getting better each race,” said Allen. “Kris [Wilson] is a huge help and Rearden gives us a great car every race. We're happy to get the win.”

“John [Allen] is clearly more comfortable in his racing and he’s really coming along,” said Wilson. “Obviously, we have a great car too, but I’m really impressed with his progress. We are teaming up well now after a few weekends together in the Mercedes-AMG.”

In the GT4 SprintX Pro-Am category, Burton and Kozarov continue to improve in the No. 91 Burton Lumber/Rearden Racing Aston Martin Vantage car by scoring a solid fifth place finish at Sonoma Raceway.

“Jeff and Vesko are learning more about the Aston Martin Vantage this year after their championship run last year in the Audi,” said Lara Tallman, Rearden Racing team owner. “The Pro-Am class is very competitive, and our Rearden Racing crew is working hard to give them strong cars with new Aston Martin.”

The GT4 Sprint and SprintX highlights from Sonoma Raceway will be televised through the CBS Sports Network on Aug. 15 and 16 with SprintX set for Aug. 15 at 2 p.m. EDT and Sprint on Aug. 16 at 1:30 p.m. EDT.
