Pirelli GT4 Sprint Series Roars into Road America

Elkhart Lake, WI - A talented Pirelli GT4 America Sprint field heads to one of the world's fastest permanent road racing tracks, Road America, August 27-30. Led by three-time SRO America Driver's Champion Michael Cooper, who has won five straight races, the 4.048-mile, 14-turn circuit will host three Sprint races, two originally scheduled for the Road America weekend and one to make up for a cancelled round at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

Cooper Looks to Continue Hot Streak in Wisconsin

Michael Cooper comes into the weekend atop the Pro Driver's Championship standings with 175 points on the strength of an incredible five straight victories. He'll drive the #10 Blackdog Speed Shop McLaren 570s GT4. 

TRG-The Racers Group driver Spencer Pumpelly enters the weekend 33 points behind Cooper with 148. He'll look to stop Cooper's winning streak behind the wheel of the #66 TRG-The Racers Group LaSalle Solutions Porsche 718 Cayman GT4. Pumpelly won Round 3 at Virginia International Raceway.

Drew Staveley, third in the standings with 127 points, will drive the #12 Ian Lacy Racing Ford Mustang GT4. Staveley won Round 1 at Circuit of the Americas. Sitting fourth overall in the Driver's Championship with 114 points, Jarett Andretti will drive the #18 Andretti Autosport McLaren 570s GT4.

Dinan Leads the Single-driver Am Charge

In the Am division, Michael Dinan's performance to date has been impressive winning five of eight races. He leads in the Driver's Championship with 171 points and will drive the #210 Flying Lizard Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage GT4. Round 2 winner, Rearden Racing's Paul Terry comes into the weekend second in the standings with 131 points. He will drive the #59 Aston Martin Vantage GT4. Round 8 winner Jeff Burton will drive the #191 Rearden Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT4.

Re-joining the series is Blackdog Speed Shop team principle and veteran series driver Tony Gaples. He'll drive his familiar #11 McLaren 570s GT4. Based in Lincolnshire, IL two hours south of  Elkhart Lake, Road America is Blackdog's home track and Gaples most certainly will be pushing extra hard to end up in victory circle over the weekend. Also looking for a win at his home track, Milwaukee's Jeff Courtney will drive the #99 RecStuff Racing Mercedes-AMG GT4.

Also entered in the Am division are Jason Bell in the #2 GMG Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4, Frank Gannett in the #24 Ian Lacy Racing Ford Mustang GT4, Jason Hall piloting the #48 NOLASPORT Porsche 718 Cayman GT4, Mark Klenin, in the #62 KPR SIN R1 GT4, Christopher Gumprecht in the #79 C.G. Racing Inc. Mercedes-AMG GT4, and Sean Quinlan in the #119 Stephen Cameron Racing BMW M4 GT4.

Action for the Pirelli GT4 America Sprint series starts Thursday, August 27 at 10:05am Central for the first practice session of the weekend. Friday sees the first race of the weekend with a green flag start scheduled for 1:20pm local time. Saturday's race is  scheduled for 9:40am and Sunday's at 3:05pm local time.
