Davis, GMG Racing Lead Second Combined Practice Session

Elkhart Lake, WI - GMG Racing's Andrew Davis posted the fastest time in Thursday afternoon's combined Pirelli GT4 America Sprint/SprintX practice at Road America. The 60-minute session was held under cloudy, 82-degree Fahrenheit weather conditions.

RS1’s Jen Heylen piloting the #37 Porsche Cayman CS MR in Pro-Am SprintX posted the early fast time of 2:19.716 just over six minutes into the session. Shortly after, SprintX Pro/Am driver Davis in the #2 GMG Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 went to top with a 2:18.783, followed by BimmerWorld's Pro-Am SprintX pilot Bill Auberlen in the #82 BMW M4 GT4, with a 2:19.209.

Davis improved to a 2:18.620 just under 10 minutes into the session. ST Racing's BMW M4 GT4 driver Harry Gottsacker in the #28 machine slotted into fourth overall, and first in SprintX Silver division with a 2:20.249. Drew Staveley, in the #12 Ian Lacy Racing Ford Mustang GT4 slotted into fifth overall, and tops in the Sprint Pro category with a 2:20.396. Sprint Am driver Sean Quinlan in the #119 Stephen Cameron Racing BMW M4 GT4 moved into 7th overall and first in the Am category with a 2:20.426. Rearden Racing's Kris Wilson driving the #16 Mercedes AMG GT4, moved into 11th overall and tops in the SprintX Am category with a 2:20.643.

With under 30 minutes in the session, Classic BMW's Toby Grahovec in the #26 BMW M4 GT4 moved up into fourth overall and tops in the Silver category with a 2:20.221.

Then late in the session several drivers set fast times to reshuffle the charts. Rearden Racing's Vesko Kozarov in the #191 Aston Martin Vantage GT4 jumped into second overall and second in SprintX Pro/Am with a 2:18.703. Sprint Pro division driver Spencer Pumpelly in the #66 TRG-The Racers Group LaSalle Solutions Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 posted the third fastest time and first in Sprint Pro (2:19.046). Rearden Racing's Paul Terry in the #59 Aston Martin Vantage GT4 posted the sixth fastest time overall and first in Sprint Am (2:19.784). Nick Wittmer who took over for Gottsacker in the #28 machine posted a 2:20.127 to best Grahovec's time for top spot in SprintX Silver and 8th overall on the charts. Davis' top time held at the checkered while, Wilson's time held for fastest in the GT4 SprintX Am division.

Action for the Pirelli GT4 America Sprint and SprintX series continues Friday with qualifying sessions. Pirelli GT4 Sprint America drivers take to the track at 8:30am local time, while SprintX drivers run their qualifying session starting at 10:45am.
