RENNtech Returns to Pro Racing with Chouest/Povoledo and the Westport #89 RENNtech Mercedes-AMG GT4

RENNtech is proud to announce their return to SRO Pirelli GT4 America Challenge with the Westport #89 RENNtech Mercedes-AMG GT4. The car will be driven by SRO-rookie driver Ross Chouest in the GT America Sprint -series and by Chouest and Aaron Povoledo in the SprintX -series.

This marks a return to a series where both RENNtech and Povoledo have had great success. Since their first entry into the SRO GT4 -series, RENNtech was an instant podium contender and won two GT4 races in the second half of 2019. Povoledo is a proven winner and podium finisher in both the Touring Car and GT4 (formerly GTS) -class where he drove for the factory Volvo K-Pax team and GSP Racing.

For Chouest this will be his first foray into the GT4 Class of sports car racing. For the past 6 years Ross honed his skills by winning championships in both in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo and Ferrari Challenge -series, marking himself as one of the up-and-coming amateur drivers in America.

Ross Chouest:

“I am definitely excited about this next step. I learned a lot from the single make series, and I am ready for the challenge of multi class racing and mixing it up with both amateurs and pros. Being able to do four races per event is a huge plus for me and I know that the wheel-to-wheel racing will help me grow even more as a driver.”

Aaron Povoledo:

“I’ve had so many great experiences racing in SRO over the years that this feels like a real homecoming for me. I know the Mercedes platform really well from my years working with the GT3 version, so I know we will have a strong all around car underneath us. I see the level of passion and commitment Team Owner Hartmut Feyhl and Team Manager Sascha Kempter have for this Team and it permeates through the crew as well. They deeply care about winning and that makes me want to put even more of my heart and soul into it. Getting to co-drive with Ross (Chouest) will also be a highlight for me. I’ve been his coach for many years now and he’s more than just a friend - he’s like a brother to me, so to go do battle as team mates is simply awesome!"

Sascha Kempter, Team Manager:

"After such a successful start to our racing team back in 2019 it was heartbreaking to have to put the program on ice last year, mostly due to the pandemic. It’s safe to say I have a years’ worth of pent up energy, and I am ready to get back to the race track and pick up from where we left off."
