Checkered Flag for Classic BMW & Their Long Dedication to Racing! Fast Track Racing Takes Two BMW M4 GT4 Sports Cars to Indy This Weekend for Pirelli GT4 America & IGTC 8-Hour Contests

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Fast Track Racing, Classic BMW’s successful racing division, will have two BMW M4 GT4 sports cars competing in this weekend’s dual series events at the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course with action in the Pirelli GT4 America SprintX competition and in the Indianapolis 8-Hour presented by AWS for the Intercontinental GT Challenge Series.

Recently, the famed Classic BMW dealership was purchased by Sewell Automotive Companies, with 18 Texas-based auto stores, and the two Fast Track Racing machines will sport the “Thanks to Classic BMW” livery in the two series events at IMS on Oct. 15-17. Despite the sale of the Classic BMW venue, Fast Track Racing team owner Eric Maas plans to continue the racing organization’s campaign of BMW race cars in a variety of motorsports categories.

“The Indianapolis Motor Speedway will be the final stop in the long history of racing for the Plano, Texas- based BMW dealership,” said Maas. “Classic BMW has arguably been the most successful BMW dealership racing program in the United States with a history tracing back to 1973.

“The dealership’s racing program has won races, team, manufacturer, and driver’s championships as well as the coveted BMW Sports Trophy, which it won in 2018, the only time a U.S.-based team took the prize. The legend of Classic BMW Racing will be carried on by Fast Track Racing, it’s racing team partner.”

As a tribute to the huge success of Classic BMW’s racing heritage, the Fast Track Racing team has compiled a strong driver lineup for the SRO America finale and the second round of the International GT Challenge worldwide tour.

Seeking another victory in the Silver class of the Pirelli GT4 America series will be the race-winning duo of Stevan McAleer of Cold Spring, N.Y., and Toby Grahovec of Celina, TX, both past racing champions in numerous road racing series. While racing a limited schedule in 2021, McAleer and Grahovec have teamed to score a 60-minute race victory at Watkins Glen as well as several podium placings in the popular No. 11 Fast Track Racing/Classic BMW BMW M4 GT4 mount.

“We didn’t begin the season at the first race weekend, but Stevan and I have been scoring good finishes and a win when we teamed up this year,” said Grahovec, who also serves as team manager for Fast Track Racing. “Both of us are anxious to get back to Indy with our BMW M4 GT4 car as we showed good speed last year at IMS. It would be great to get onto that famous IMS victory lane for Classic BMW.”

McAleer, the Scotland native, has extensive experience in a variety of sports cars throughout his career and consistently shows a fast pace in the Silver category of the Pirelli GT4 America events. The GT4 America races are set for Thursday (Oct. 14) at 5 p.m. EDT and Friday (Oct. 15) at 2:35 p.m. EDT.

“Eric gave us the opportunity to compete with the BMW M4 in the GT4 America series this year,” said McAleer. “And Toby and I want to thank him and the Classic BMW staff for their contribution to sports car racing for many years. Fast Track Racing has a great crew, and we would love to put their car in the winner’s circle at an iconic circuit like the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. That is our goal this weekend.”

In the Indianapolis 8-Hour event, Fast Track Racing will field another No. 11 BMW M4 GT4 sports car for a solid trio of competitors racing in the GT4 portion of the 41-car field battling at the 2.605-mile, 13-turn road circuit inside the famous 2.5-mile oval track at IMS.

Veteran John Capestro-Dubets of San Diego, CA, known in racing circles as JCD, heads up the Fast Track Racing driving contingent for Sunday’s Indianapolis 8-Hour contest which is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. EDT. JCD has captured a Pirelli GT4 America Pro-Am division race last month at Watkins Glen and brings vast background in BMW racing machines.

Joining JCD in the No. 11 Fast Track Racing BMW M4 GT4 sports car in the Indianapolis 8-Hour event will be another veteran, Canada native Alex Filsinger of Rancho Santa Fe, CA, and young Dominic Starkweather of Phoenix, AZ.

The Pirelli GT4 America highlights from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway will be telecast on the CBS Sports Network on Wednesday (Oct. 27) at 9 p.m. EDT with a second showing on Thursday (Oct. 28) at 1 a.m. EDT. The Indianapolis 8-Hour event will be shown at 12 p.m. EDT on Sunday (Oct. 17) on the CBS Sports Network.
