December 28, 2022 – Running separate programs in 2022, the 2023 season will see the dynamic duo of Tyler Maxson and Tyler Gonzalez back in one car at Copeland Motorsports. Bringing the band back together for the Pirelli GT4 America program, Maxson and Gonzalez will pilot a Copeland Motorsports-prepared Toyota Supra GT4 as they look to fight their way to additional SRO Motorsports Group race wins and podium results.
Competing with Copeland Motorsports in the past, Maxson won back-to-back SRO Championships in 2019 and 2020 as he earned top honors in both TCA and TCR. Gonzalez returns to Copeland Motorsports after earning multiple race wins in the TCA ranks before he and Maxson paired together in Copeland Motorsports’ TCR debut season in 2021. Going their separate ways in 2022, a valiant effort this off-season will see the driver duo under the Copeland Motorsports banner for 2023.
“I am very excited to have both Tylers back in our program for 2023,” explained Dean Copeland. “Both are young talents with a very bright future, race winners at every level since their move to cars, and the perfect role models for Copeland Motorsports. We are expecting big things in 2023!”
“I am confident that we will have success from the very first event,” explained the newly announced Toyota development driver and multi-time Mazda MX-5 Cup winner, Tyler Gonzalez. “I am looking forward to once again sharing a car with Tyler and being back with Copeland Motorsports, a team that I have had much success with in the past.”
Tyler Maxson added, “The Toyota GT4 machine looks incredible, and it will look even better when we drive it to the winner’s circle in 2023. I am looking forward to once again sharing the car with T-Gun and a huge thanks to Copeland Motorsports for their continued effort to ensure success. I personally aim to make them proud in 2023.”
With countless race wins, podium results and championships to each of their credit, the band will hit the stage for the first event of 2023 in late March at the famed Sonoma Raceway.
