Under sunny skies, the qualifying sessions for Pirelli GT4 America took place at Sonoma Raceway. With the qualifying format being split into two 15-minutes sessions; Driver 1 took to the track in order to qualify for Race 1, while Driver 2 took over for the remaining 15 minutes of the session to set the grid for Race 2 on Sunday.

Silver Class

In the first 15-minute qualifying session, the No. 34 Conquest Racing / JMF Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT4 rose to the top of the ranks thanks to an impressive time of 1:45.970. Michai Stephens and Jesse Webb will start the race alongside the No. 19 ACI Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport of Francis Selldorff and Andrew Davis, who set the second fastest lap time of the session. Stephens and Webb are the favorites heading into the opening rounds at Sonoma, but their competitors will be doing everything they can to give them a run for their money. Rounding up the Top 3 was the No. 51 Auto Technic Racing BMW M4 GT4 of Zac Anderson and John Dubets.

The second portion of qualifying was dominated by the Conquest Racing machine once more, but this time they were challenged by the No. 92 Random Vandals Racing BMW M4 GT4 of Kenton Koch and Kevin Boehm, who will start second in Race 2. Koch and Boehm both have an impressive racing resume, and they’ll be eager to make a lasting impression in the Silver class. Rounding off the Top 3 was the No. 19 ACI Motorsports machine.

PRO-AM Class

The teams in Pro-Am gave spectators quite a show, swapping positions across the leaderboard throughout the entirety of both qualifying sessions. The No. 47 NOLASPORT Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport co-driven by Matt Travis and Jason Hart will lead the Pro-AM field for Race 1 and Race 2.

Aaron Povoledo and Ross Chouest will start from the second place in their No. 50 Chouest Povoledo Racing Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 for Race 1, while the No.7 ACI Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport will start third.

The No. 7 ACI Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport came out swinging in the second session, but despite their best efforts the team will have to settle for second on the grid for Race 2. The No. 68 Smooge Racing Toyota Gazoo Racing GR Supra GT4 also raised quite the challenge, rounding off the final spot in the Top 3.

AM Class

BimmerWorld were quick to remind the AM Class why they are such a powerhouse team, storming to the top of the leaderboard in the first qualifying session with the No. 36 BMW M4 GT4 co-driven by Charlie Postins and James Clay. They clocked in a time of 1:46.820 to secure pole position for Race 1.

The No. 26 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 followed up to grab second place on the grid for the race taking place later today, with Conquest Racing hot on their trail in third in the No. 35 Mercedes-AMG GT4.

However, Carrus Callas Raceteam would not go down without a fight, charging their way into first place in the second qualifying session in the No. 20 Toyota Gazoo Racing GR Supra GT4. After two previously successful outings in free practice, it was only a matter of time before they made their mark in qualifying.

The No. 83 NOLASPORT Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, also no stranger to the top of the charts, slotted in behind in second place. Conquest Racing remained as consistent as ever, securing another third place starting position ahead of Race 2.
