Pirelli GT4 America Field Saddles Up for a Thrilling Texas Rodeo at Circuit Of The Americas

The Pirelli GT4 America Championship is heading to Circuit of the Americas for the highly anticipated fourth calendar event of the season. A total of 42 rs across the Silver, PRO-AM and AM classes will speed their way over the winding Texas track to fight for the chance to take home the win. Race One takes place on Saturday, May 20, with Race Two being held the following day on Sunday, May 21.

 

Silver Class

Despite the rain cutting the action a little short at NOLA Motorsports Park, the on-track battles were fiercer than ever. It was a sprint to the finish line between the No. 51 Auto Technic Racing BMW M4 GT4 of Zac Anderson and JC Dubets and the No. 34 Conquest Racing / JMF Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT4 of Michai Stephens and Jesse Webb. With Anderson and Dubets absent for this upcoming round, it remains to be seen whether Stephens and Webb will be going wheel-to-wheel with No. 74 Copeland Motorsports Toyota Gazoo Racing GR Supra GT4 of Tyler Maxson and Tyler Gonzalez once again or if another team will add themselves to the mix.

The Toyota team will share the track with the No. 999 Hanley Motorsports Toyota Gazoo Racing GR Supra GT4 EVO of Parker Thompson and Daniel Hanley.  

The BMW entrants include the No. 92 Random Vandals Racing BMW M4 GT4 of Kevin Boehm and Kenton Koch making their return to the Silver Class, accompanied by the No. 88 STR38 Motorsports BMW M4 GT4 of Chandler Hull and Jon Miller.

Porsche is also fielding two 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsports, with the likes Francis Selldorff and Andrew Davis commanding the No. 19 ACI Motorsports and OGH/Valkyrie Velocity machine, and Chris Walsh and Dominic Starkweather getting back in the driver’s seat of the No. 96 OGH/ Valkyrie Velocity car.

 

PRO-AM Class

As always, The PRO-AM class features a stacked and talented field, with 14 entries ready to take to the track and treat the Austin crowds to another round of endless action. Jason Hart and Matt Travis faced some challenges last time out, but the NOLASPORT drivers will start fresh at COTA in the No. 47 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport. They will be joined by other Porsche competitors, with Will Owen and Rob Ferriol behind the wheel of the No. 95 OGH/ Valkyrie Velocity Porsche, and Jay Logan manning the No. 71 GMG Racing machine, with Texas native Alec Udell.  

Aston Martin is a popular manufacturer on the grid, making up six of the entries in the class. Roman DeAngelis returns to the Heart of Racing team after a class win on his series debut, rejoining Gray Newell in search of back-to-back wins in the No. 24 Heart of Racing Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4.  

Ross Chouest and Aaron Povoledo, who have already stepped on the podium multiple times this season, will challenge for the top spot in the No. 50 Chouest Povoledo Racing Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4, in addition to the No. 8 Flying Lizard Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 of Elias Sabo and Andy Lee. The No. 428 van der Steur Racing Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 of Brady Behrman and Coby Shield and the No. 069 Archangel Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 Todd Coleman Billy Johnson will also be in the mix, with the new entry of GMG Racing’s Tom Dyer and Todd Parriott completing the Aston Martin lineup.  

TechSport Racing picked up a podium result in the opening round of the season with Eric Powell and Colin Harrison in the No. 22 Nissan Z GT4, and will be looking to triumph once again, racing alongside teammates Bryan Heitkotter Tyler Stone in the No. 23 sister car.

In addition, Toyota is represented by two competitive entries, with the No. 37 Skip Barber Racing School Toyota Gazoo Racing GR Supra GT4 of Matt Forbush and Carter Fartuch in search of more hardware to add to their collection, as well as the notorious No. 68 Smooge Racing Toyota Gazoo Racing GR Supra GT4 of John Geesbreght and Kevin Conway.

BimmerWorld will once again proudly represent BMW in class with the No. 82 BMW M4 GT4, co-driven by Tyler McQuarrie and James Walker Jr.

 

AM Class

There are 17 total entries in the AM Class, once again accounting for nearly half of the total grid. With five different manufacturers in the field, it’s still anyone’s game and audiences in attendance can expect drivers up and down the track to be going wheel-to-wheel throughout every corner of the circuit.

BMW showed strong pace in NOLA, and now teams, drivers, and spectators alike will be waiting in anticipation to see if the same will be true at COTA. With five entries in the class, the manufacturer is represented, including race winners James Clay and Charlie Postins in the No. 36 BimmerWorld BMW M4 GT4. Chris Allen and Robert Mau will also be charging in the No. 438 STR38 Motorsports BMW G82 M4 GT4. Random Vandals Racing will be fielding two entries, with Paul Sparta and Al Carter equipped with the No. 98 BMW. and Rob Walker and Satakal Khalsa co-commanding the No. 253 Auto Technic Racing Random Vandals Racing BMW M4 GT4. Johan Schwartz Colin Garrett will complete the BMW entries with the No. 44 Rooster Hall Racing car.

Aston Martin will feature two entries on the grid, with the No. 26 of Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 of Hannah Grisham and Rianna O’Meara-Hunt and the No. 77 TR3 Racing Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 of Paul Kiebler and Jon Branam. Meanwhile, the No. 89 RENNtech Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT4 of Michael Auriemma and Tommy Johnson will be the lone Mercedes in the pack.  

Once again, Porsche remains the most popular manufacturer in the AM Class with a total of six entries consisting of the No. 09 Zotz Racing/ CCDP Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport of Chris Ruppel and Eric Zitza, the No. 32 GMG Racing of James Sofronas and Kyle Washington, and the No. 52 and No. 83 NOLASPORT cars of David Peterman, Lee Carpentier, Juan Pablo Martinez, and Nelson Calle. Richard Edge and Matt Halcome will be competing in the No. 58 ACI Motorsports car, and the No. 97 OGH/ Valkyrie Velocity of Sean Gibbons and Sam Owen will make up the final Porsche on the grid.  

Terry Borcheller and Nicholas Shannny climbing back in the No. 20 Carrus Callas Raceteam Toyota Gazoo Racing GR Supra GT4 in search of another win for Toyota, with Smooge Racing and KRUGSPEED setting their sights on the same goal, with Isabella Robusto and Joey DaSilva, and Jaden Lander and Anthony Geraci getting behind the wheel of the No. 67 and No. 72 vehicles in search of victory.

 

Let’s Go

The weekend begins with official practice Friday, May 19, followed by qualifying and Race One on Saturday, May 20. A 3 p.m. CT autograph session for the Pirelli GT4 America series splits the two sessions. Race Two on Sunday, May 21 ends the weekend in Texas.
