Valkyrie Velocity Visits Valkyrie’s Home Town of Austin for Circuit of the Americas Doubleheader

Valkyrie Velocity brings its pair of Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport to Circuit of the Americas for this weekend’s Pirelli GT4 America doubleheader, with Rob Ferriol and Will Owen again teamed up in the No. 95 Valkyrie/Grid Rival Porsche Cayman in the Pro-Am class, with Chris Walsh and Dominic Starkweather co-driving the No. 96 wear blue/Beacon Building Products Porsche Cayman in the Silver class.

The doubleheader makes up rounds four and five of the season after one race at NOLA Motorsports was postponed due to weather. This weekend’s one-hour races are scheduled for 5 p.m. Central time on Saturday, May 20 and at 10:50 a.m. Central on Sunday the 21st. Both races can be seen live through the SRO organization’s YouTube Channel at Youtube.com/GTWorld

Valkyrie Velocity Pre-Race News and Notes

  • This is the first pro race at Circuit of the Americas for all four Valkyrie Velocity drivers. Will Owen, who now calls Austin home, has tested Pro Mazda and Prototype Challenge cars here, but has never run a race here. Starkweather and Walsh have each run a World Racing League event on the track. This is Ferriol's first visit to the race track.
  • Valkyrie, the applied science technology company, is based in downtown Austin, less than 15 miles from Circuit of the Americas. To celebrate, approximately 50 employees, family and friends are visiting the track throughout the weekend to cheer on the Valkyrie Velocity drivers.
  • Those guests include Owen's family and co-workers. Owen is a Business Development Associate at Valkyrie in his Monday through Friday job.
  • They’re not the only guests of Valkyrie Velocity attending the weekend. Approximately 50 more spectators are coming as guests of wear blue: run to remember, who is a Valkyrie Velocity partner on the No. 96 car.
  • Included in the group of wear blue: run to remember guests are approximately 15 Gold Star Children and their mentors from Joint Base San Antonio. A significant part of wear blue’s mission is helping family members of fallen U.S. military deal with the grief of losing a loved one, no small mission as Memorial Day approaches.
  • Walsh and wear blue: run to remember met originally as Walsh served as a mentor himself. Walsh was paired with founder Lisa Hallett’s son, Bryce, and helped him train to run a 5K foot race, among other things. Walsh is an active duty Air Force officer.
  • Starkweather is riding some momentum of his own, just a week removed from a podium in his debut race in Lamborghini Super Trofeo. Starkweather drove for Valkyrie Velocity’s program at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
