Six thrilling rounds have passed in the Pirelli GT4 America Championship, and the climb to the top of the standings has continuously ramped up race after race across all classes. The Pirelli GT4 America field will be looking to settle the scores as the final crucial championship points are up for grabs, with the upcoming race outcomes potentially having major implications in the standings.
There will be 36 cars across the Silver, PRO-AM and AM Classes making their way to the infamous Brickyard for the final two races of the season, with promises of more daring moves that will surely have everyone on the edge of their seats.
Silver Class
The Silver class left no stone unturned last time out in Sebring, with the triple header serving up some of the closest battles of the season and full tilt sprints to the finish. Three different teams emerged victorious, with Daniel Hanley and Parker Thompson taking the first win in their No. 999 Hanley Motorsports Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO.
Kenton Koch and Kevin Boehm overcame some hurdles early into Saturday’s race and completed an excellent comeback drive to claim the victory in their No. 92 Random Vandals Racing BMW M4 GT4. Conquest Racing were the ones to stand out in Sunday’s race, as Jesse Webb and Michai Stephens claimed a dominant win in the No. 34 Conquest Racing / JMF Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT4 following an exemplary and aggressive hour-long event.
The No. 51 Auto Technic Racing BMW M4 GT4 of Zac Anderson and JCD Dubets still holds the top spot in the championship standings, as the two further accumulated more points thanks to three consecutive podium finishes.
Chandler Hull and Harry Gottsacker were close to securing podium finishes on a couple of occasions in the prior round in their No. 88 STR38 Motorsports BMW M4 GT4 but it was not meant to be, but the duo will be aiming to bounce back stronger in Indianapolis. Similarly, Francis Selldorff and Andrew Davis will also be ready to challenge in the No. 19 ACI Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.
PRO-AM Class
The PRO-AM Class remained as unpredictable as ever, serving up three wildly different podiums in the previous round as teams clawed their way to top results in a field where anyone could emerge victorious. The Flying Lizard Motorsports team had an impeccable weekend, as the No. 2 Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 of Jason Bell and Michael Cooper walked away with a win and a second-place finish, and the No. 8 Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 of Elias Sabo and Andy Lee also taking a win as well. This time around, the team will be fielding a third entry with the likes of the No. 13 Flying Lizard Motorsports of Todd Parriott and Tom Dyer.
Jason Hart and Matt Travis also had a strong showing in the No. 47 NOLASPORT Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, picking up a win of their own. BimmerWorld were in the fight as well, as Tyler McQuarrie and James Walker Jr. secured two consecutive third place results in the No. 82 BimmerWorld BMW M4 GT4.
Race 2 is where the most shakeups went down, with a mad dash for the final steps on the podium delivering a second-place finish for Curt Swearingin and Kay van Berlo in the No. 7 ACI Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, and a last lap rise to the podium for the No. 22 TechSport Racing Nissan Z GT4 of Eric Powell. The sister No. 23 car, driven by Bryan Heitkotter and Tyler Stone will also be looking to join in on the fun.
After only their second round together as teammates, Custodio Toledo and Cedric Sbirrazzuoli came very close to a pair of Top 3 finishes, and will be looking to seal the deal in the No. 35 Conquest Racing Mercedes-AMG GT4.
It was a tough outing for Gray Newell and Roman De Angelis in the No. 24 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4, as well as Ross Chouest and Aaron Povoledo in the No. 50 Chouest Povoledo Racing Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4, all of whom will be aiming to turn things around in the final round in favor of some better luck.
The No. 37 Skip Barber Racing School Toyota Gazoo Racing GR Supra GT4 of Matt Forbush and Carter Fartuch, and the No. 68 Smooge Racing Toyota Gazoo Racing GR Supra GT4 of John Geesbreght and Kevin Conway will also be looking to make an impact in the final two races, with the same applying to Colin Garrett and Johan Schwartz in the No. 44 Rooster Hall Racing BMW M4 GT4.
AM Class
BimmerWorld’s James Clay and Charlie Postins wrapped up their championship charge at Sebring in their No. 36 BimmerWorld BMW M4 GT4, clinching the title once again following a P1 and P2 finish.
The AM Class provided a significant amount of variety amongst the podium finishers. Richard Edge and Matt Halcome took home a win for the No. 58 ACI Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, as did Anthony Geraci and Jaden Lander in the No. 72 KRUGSPEED Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO. Roland Krainz and Austin Krainz in the No. 18 RS1 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, and Chris Allen and Robert Mau in the No. 438 STR38 Motorsports BMW G82 M4 GT4 secured second-place finishes, while Rob Walker and Satakal Khalsa in the No. 253 Auto Technic Racing BMW M4 GT4, and Paul Sparta and Al Carter in the No. 98 Random Vandals Racing BMW M4 GT4 completed their respective podiums.
The No. 20 Carrus Callas Raceteam Toyota Gazoo Racing GR Supra GT4 of Terry Borcheller and Nicholas Shanny, and the No. 83 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport NOLASPORT of Nelson Calle and Juan Pablo Martinez were also in contention for some hardware but finished just shy. The No. 26 of Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 of Hannah Grisham and Rianna O’Meara-Hunt and the No. 80 Crucial Motorsports McLaren Artura GT4 of Nick Longhi and Kaia Teo will also be looking to triumph once again.
The grid will be completed by the No. 67 Smooge Racing Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO of Isabella Robusto and Joey DaSilva, the No. 89 RENNtech Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT4 of Michael Auriemma and Tommy Johnson, and the Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport entries of Chris Ruppel and Eric Zitza in the No. 09 Zotz Racing / CCDP Racing car, and the No. 52 NOLASPORT machine of David Peterman and Lee Carpentier.
