HINDMAN, WILSON RECORD OVERALL GT4 SPRINTX POLES SATURDAY AT VIR

ALTON, Va. – Trent Hindman of Neptune, N.J., recorded the fast Pirelli GT4 America SprintX qualifying lap of time Saturday morning at VIRginia International Raceway and will start from the pole in Sunday’s GT4 Sprint feature. Veteran Kris Wilson of Littleton, Colo., will start from the pole in Saturday’s GT4 SprintX race scheduled for 1:05 p.m. EDT.

Hindman was quick in Friday morning practice with his #77 Park Place Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman Clubsport MR sports car and he continued that trend Saturday morning with a strong one minute, 53.409 time at the high-speed 3.27-mile, 17-turn road course in southern Virginia in the Pro category.

Meanwhile, in the Am class, Wilson clocked in with 1.54.123 in his #16 Auto Technic Racing BMW M4 GT4 for the #1 starting spot for Saturday’s event.

The GT4 SprintX qualifying format include the Am drivers taking to the track first for the Saturday starting positions with the Pro drivers setting the Sunday lineup in a second qualifying session.

Hindman posted his quickest clocking on his fourth qualifying lap Saturday and watched his competitors attempt to knock him off the pole for the next five to six circuits. But no one could match Trent's time despite several drivers getting very close.

Second to Hindman in the Pro qualifying round was Jason Hart in the #47 NOLA Sport Porsche 718 Cayman Clubsport MR at 1:53.437 followed by Christian Szymczak in the #34 Murillo Racing Mercedes-AMG GT4 at 1:53.444, Stevan McAleer in the #29 Raphael & Associates/Classic BMW BMW M4 GT4 at 1:53.961 and Andrew Davis in the #32 Kelly Moss Road & Race Porsche 718 Cayman Clubsport MR at 1:53.977.

Rounding out the top-ten in the GT4 SprintX Pro qualifying was Robby Foley in the #21 Flying Lizard Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman Clubsport MR at 1:54.006, Greg Liefooghe in the #19 Stephen Cameron Racing BMW M4 GT4 at 1:54.248, Nate Stacy in the #55 Kohr Motorsports Ford Mustang GT4 at 1:54.284, John Capestro-Dubets in the #46 NOLASPORT Porsche 718 Cayman Clubsport MR at 1:54.540 and GT4 series champion James Sofronas in the #04 GMG Racing Audi R8 LMS at 1:54.774.

Trailing Wilson in Am qualifying for Saturday’s starting lineup was Matt Fassnacht in the #34 Murillo Racing Mercedes-AMG GT4 at 1:54.253 followed by 2018 TC series champion Vesko Kozarov in the #91 Rearden Racing Audi R8 LMS at 1:54.285, Matt Travis in the #47 NOLASPORT Porsche 718 Cayman Clubsport MR at 1:54.419, Michael Dinan in the #21 Flying Lizard Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman Clubsport MR at 1:54.592.

Completing the top-ten in the Am qualifying were Randy Mueller in the #3 Epic Motorsports BMW M4 GT4 at 1:55.091, Hindman’s teammate Alan Brynjolfsson in the #77 Park Place Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman Clubsport MR at 1:55.134, Sean Quinlan in the #19 Stephen Cameron Racing BMW M4 GT4 at 1:55.736, Marko Radisic in the #22 Precision Driving Tech BMW M4 GT4 at 1:56.271 and Jarett Andretti in the #18 Andretti Autosport McLaren 570S GT4 at 1:56.297.

TRENT HINDMAN (#77 Park Place Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman Clubsport MR):

“Today qualifying was a little closer than I wanted it to be, to be honest. With the lack of track time we had yesterday (Friday) due to the rain, I’m really happy how the Park Place Motorsports car performed. The crew did a great job with the Porsche. And Alan did a great job in the SprintX Am qualifying as well. I think anyone is really sure what they have for a long run just yet. Historically, we are pretty good with our car in the longer stints. There is a lot of learning still here at VIR with this car. We’ll do some of that on the fly. But our goal is to bring home a victory with the Park Place Porsche.”

KRIS WILSON (#16 Auto Technic Racing BMW M4 GT):

“I really don’t know where that fast lap came from today. The BMW is great this weekend here at VIR and BoP (Balance of Performance) changes from weekend to weekend. The BMW seems to be a good car at VIR this weekend. We are learning this car slowly and surely. The Auto Technic Racing guys are great and really help us. Hopefully we’ll keep this train rolling after a pole in qualifying. The track was great this morning with the cooler conditions. What more can you do in this cooler air than hammer it (the throttle). I’ll tell my teammate John Allen to keep up the good feeling with the car.”
