Blackdog Speed Shop Takes Pole Position for Inaugural Lonestar Enduro

The Pirelli GT4 America grid had a short 15-minute turnaround to set their flying laps to set the grid for the inaugural Lonestar Enduro taking place Saturday evening. Drivers across all three Silver, Pro-Am, and Am classes were battling it out on track to secure the best starting positions for the three-hour endurance race to come. 

Blackdog Speed Shop’s Michael Cooper impressed as he claimed the overall and Pro-Am ROWE Pole Position, with Parker Thompson and Hanley Motorsports securing the top time in the Silver class. Fast Track Racing’s Denny Stripling was the best qualifier in the Am class. 

Silver Class

Parker Thompson was the quickest driver in the Silver class, soaring around Circuit of The Americas in his No. 999 Hanley Motorsports Toyota Gazoo Racing GR Supra GT4 EVO to set a lap time of 2:14.041, which was the fastest time in class and third-fastest time overall.

Eric Filgueiras was behind the wheel of the No. 28 RS1 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, posting the second-quickest lap time in the Silver class and sixth-best time overall, securing a third row start for today’s three-hour endurance race. Zac Anderson was the third-fastest Silver class qualifier in the No. 51 AutoTechnic Racing BMW M4 GT4 G82. 

Pro-Am Class

Michael Cooper was the one to catch, setting the track ablaze in his No. 9 Blackdog Speed Shop Nissan Z NISMO GT4, securing the overall pole position after clocking in a rapid time of 2:13.287, putting over half a second between himself and the next-closest competitor, as Rodrigo Baptista qualified second overall in the No. 5 Flying Lizard Motorsports Nissan Z NISMO GT4.

It was a strong Qualifying session for Flying Lizard Motorsports, as the team also secured the third-fastest Pro-Am time and fourth-quickest time overall, with Tom Dyer manning the No. 13 Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4. 

Am Class

Denny Stripling led the way in the Am class in the No. 188 Fast Track Racing BMW M4 GT4 G82, with his flying lap time of 2:15.16 putting him on the top spot in class, just ahead of Kevin Conway in the No. 55 Smooge Racing Toyota Gazoo Racing GR Supra GT4 EVO, who qualified second in class. The third-fastest time in class went to Charlie Postins in the No. 36 BimmerWorld BMW M4 GT4 G82.
