RS1 Push Boundaries in Practice 2

The Pirelli GT4 America field closed out Friday’s on-track action with another 45-minute practice session. There were multiple changes for position up and down the grid as the 27-car field continued to test their limits ahead of tomorrow’s Qualifying session.

John Capestro-Dubets and Eric Filgueiras set the benchmark in the No. RS1 28 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, going quickest overall. Meanwhile, it was Tyler McQuarrie and James Walker Jr. who stood above the rest in Pro-Am in the No. 82 BimmerWorld BMW M4 GT4 G82. In the Am class, Robb Holland and Jaden Lander showed strong pace throughout the session in order to secure the quickest time in the No. 099 No. 099 Rotek Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.

Silver Class

It was a true toss up of teams and manufacturers vying for the top spot in the Silver class, with numerous contenders one-upping each other as the session progressed. RS1 took the early lead with John Capestro-Dubets behind the wheel of the No. 28 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport before being overtaken by a few different drivers. However, with just over ten minutes left, RS1 returned to the front with a flying lap time of 1:53.722.

Zac Anderson followed in second in the No. 51 AutoTechnic Racing BMW M4 GT4 G82, with Tyler Gonzalez joining in third place in the No. 68 Smooge Racing Toyota Gazoo Racing GR Supra GT4 EVO. The Random Vandals Racing pairing of Kenton Koch and Kevin Boehm were in the fold in the No. 97 Random Vandals Racing BMW M4 GT4 G82, as JMF Motorsports completed the Top 5 with Demi Chalkias and Jake Cowden in the No. 34 Mercedes-AMG GT4.

Pro-Am Class

The No. 22 TechSport Racing Nissan Z NISMO GT4 of Colin Harrison and Eric Powell led in the Pro-Am class for the opening part the session, but it was Tyler McQuarrie in the No. 82 BimmerWorld BMW M4 GT4 G82 who moved ahead into first place in the second half and held firm on the top spot.

Kay van Berlo made a late lunge into second in class in the No. 7 ACI Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport to claim second place, slotting himself just ahead of the TechSport Racing duo.

Fourth and fifth place were occupied by Roman DeAngelis in the No. 24 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 and Matheus Leist in the No. 89 RENNtech Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT4, respectively.

Am Class

James Clay was quick to set himself apart in the Am class on board his No. 36 BimmerWorld BMW M4 GT4 G82, retaining the top spot in class for the majority of the session. However, Robb Holland began to inch closer in the No. 099 Rotek Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport as the session progressed. As time ticked away, and Jaden Lander took over from Holland, he moved up ahead of the BimmerWorld driver into first place.

Paul Sparta and Kris Wilson proved themselves as top contenders once again as they returned to the Top 3 once again in the No. 98 Random Vandals Racing BMW M4 GT4 G82. Lance Bergstein and Anthony Geraci concluded the session in fourth in the No. 72 KRUGSPEED Toyota Gazoo Racing GR Supra GT4 EVO, just marginally ahead of Lee Carpentier and David Peterman in the No. 52 NOLASPORT Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.
