With the finalization of the official 2025 Intercontinental GT Challenge calendar comes a noteworthy change on the American front – the season finale Indianapolis 8 Hour Presented by AWS event will now be held from October 16th to 19th.
The endurance race will maintain its regular Saturday slot on October 18th for the Fanatec GT World Challenge America feature event, with SRO America’s remaining series concluding on Sunday, October 19th for the final rounds of the GT America Powered by AWS, Pirelli GT4 America, and TC America Powered by Skip Barber Racing championships.
The changes will only enhance the overall excitement as the GT3 endurance race will further extend its night running with the late-autumn sun setting earlier in the day. It continues to serve as Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s longest running endurance event, and the 2025 edition will have the most racing completed under full darkness, with only the bright lights of the Brickyard illuminating the road course.
The shift came as a result of the confirmation of the Suzuka 1000km weekend taking place one month prior from September 12th to 14th, and serves as an important milestone for the IGTC series as they will be making their return to Japan for the first time since 2019.
As teams and manufacturers then make their way Stateside for the final round of the season in Indianapolis, the updated calendar adjustments will provide them with more flexibility and sufficient time to sea freight cars and equipment from Suzuka to Indianapolis. The additional two weeks assists with the logistics involved in the globe-trotting nature of the GT3 series.
