- Gonzalez and Lewis Fastest Overall
- Leist and Auriemma On Top in Pro-Am
- Walsh and Shanny Quickest Again in Am Class
- Practice 2 Unofficial Results
As the sun began to lower and track temperatures gradually dwindled, the Pirelli GT4 America field set off for another 45 minutes of action around Indianapolis Motor Speedway late Thursday afternoon. With Qualifying fast approaching, it was imperative for teams to utilize their track time efficiently in order to set themselves up for success.
Smooge Racing were the dominant Silver class entry yet again, going fastest overall in Practice 2, although the Pro-Am entry of RENNtech Motorsports was in hot pursuit. In the Am class, Carrus Callas Raceteam were the standout performers.
Silver Class
The No. 68 Smooge Racing Toyota Gazoo Racing GR Supra GT4 EVO of Tyler Gonzalez and Corey Lewis was in a league of its own. They secured the best time overall, and slotted themselves well ahead of the rest of their Silver class competitors.
The remaining positions in the top 5 changed frequently as drivers continued to one-up each other, but it was ultimately Kenton Koch and Kevin Boehm who went second-fastest in the No. 97 Random Vandals Racing BMW M4 GT4 G82, with fellow BMW team AutoTechnic Racing in third as Colin Garrett and Zac Anderson shared the No. 51 BMW M4 GT4 G82.
John Capestro-Dubets and Eric Filgueiras concluded their day in fourth on board the No. 28 RS1 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, just ahead of JMF Motorsports duo Michai Stephens and Jesse Webb in the No. 34 Mercedes-AMG GT4 entry.
Pro-Am Class
The Pro-Am field was very tightly packed together as multiple teams were in contention for both the best times in class, but also overall. Matheus Leist locked in the best Pro-Am time of the evening in the No. 89 RENNtech Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT4, which was also good enough to earn him the second-quickest time overall. Dario Capitanio had another strong showing in his No. 102 TPC Racing McLaren Artura GT4, finishing just behind.
Meanwhile, class championship contenders Heart of Racing Team and ACI Motorsports were keeping an eye on each other, with Roman De Angelis sitting in third in his No. 24 Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 EVO, while Kay van Berlo stayed close in his No. 7 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.
The new teammate pairing of Terry Borcheller and Ryan Eversley had a solid showing as well, breaking into the top 5 with their No. 07 Precision Racing LA Toyota Gazoo Racing GR Supra GT4 EVO.
Am Class
Chris Walsh was the one to set the pace once more in the Am class, forging a path forward with his No. 20 Carrus Callas Raceteam BMW M4 GT4 G82. Rotek Racing’s Robb Holland was the next-closest competitor in the No. 099 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, further highlighting the team’s consistency.
Kris Wilson further improved, moving his No. 98 Random Vandals Racing BMW M4 GT4 G82 up to third, just ahead of Nick Longhi and Lee Carpentier in the No. 80 Orlando Motorsports Services McLaren Artura GT4 and the No. 52 NOLASPORT Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.
