Clean Sweep for Porsche in Team Championships

Clean Sweep for Porsche in Team Championships

It was an exceptionally strong Pirelli GT4 America season for the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, as the three winning teams in the respective class championships all opted for the same manufacturer. These frontrunners accumulated thirteen wins and thirteen podiums between them, proving their dominance and prowess across the board.

Silver Class: RS1

This was not unfamiliar territory for RS1, as the team had previously won the Silver class championship in 2022 before going on to do the same in GT World Challenge America the following year in the Pro class.

As they returned to the GT4 America grid in 2024, they were ready for the next chapter as Eric Filgueiras partnered alongside John Capestro Dubets. They quickly added to their winning ways, scoring five wins and four podiums. This included back-to-back victories at Sebring International Raceway and VIRginia International Raceway.

Despite their strong performances, they were among a tough and talented field of talented competitors, keeping them on their toes until the very end. There was no room for error as they fought for their last remaining opportunity to secure the title at the Brickyard, but the advantage ultimately swung in their favor and the team was able to celebrate a third consecutive championship title.

Pro-Am Class: ACI Motorsports

Consistency was key for ACI Motorsports, as Curt Swearingin and Kay van Berlo finished in the top 3 in all but four occasions throughout the year. They finished off their campaign with four wins and five podiums, allowing them to clinch the Pro-Am class title with one round still remaining.

Their strongest performance of the year was at VIRginia International Raceway, where they claimed the victory in Race 1 before going on to take a second-place finish in Race 2.

Although they faced some setbacks and bad luck towards the end of the season, their early advantage and ongoing success had allowed them to build up a comfortable gap to their rivals, ultimately winning the title by a margin of 33 points.

Am Class: Rotek Racing

It was a steady rise over the course of the season for Rotek Racing, and a very solid second half of the year saw them insert themselves into the Am class championship fight by the time they reached the final few rounds.

Veteran racer Robb Holland and young talent Jaden Lander were a new teammate pairing in 2024, but they got up to speed quickly as they navigated their championship title pursuit.

They persevered through a challenging first couple of race weekends and proved that hard times make you stronger, coming out on the other side with four wins and four podiums. It was a thrilling battle that truly came down to the final corners at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on the last lap of the season finale, taking ‘never say never’ to a whole new level.
