Hindman Heads Pirelli GT4 America Sprint/SprintX Practice  at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park

(BOWMANVILLE, ONT.) – The green flag flew Friday morning for the first GT4 America Sprint and SprintX practice session of the weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park's legendary 3.957-km (2.459-mi.) Grand Prix circuit – SprintX competitor Trent Hindman topped the charts in his Porsche Cayman GT4 CS-MR.

The 60-minute combined Sprint and SprintX session was held under sunny 13 degrees Celsius/55 degrees Fahrenheit conditions. The Pirelli GT4 America Sprint series features a single-driver, 50-minute double-header race weekend, while SprintX showcases a pair of two-driver, 60-minute races with pit stops.

Early in the session, SprintX competitor Trent Hindman in the #77 Park Place Motorsports Porsche Cayman GT4 CS-MR set the pace with a 1:24.087 followed by fellow series driver Anthony Geraci in the #27 KRUGSPEED Ginetta G55 (1:24.369). Hindman then improved his time to a 1:24.053, while Sprint class driver Nicolai Elghanayan in the #71 KTM X-bow slotted into second on the charts with a 1:24.087. SprintX driver Christian Szymczak piloting the #34 Mercedes-AMG GT4 slotted into third with a 1:24.133.

At the end of the session the top three times held for Hindman, Elghanayan, Szymczak. Geraci improved to a 1:24.233 to remain in the 4th fastest position. Nate Stacey posted a late session fast lap of 1:24.257 in the #55 Kohr Motorsports Ford Mustang GT4 to round out the top 5.

The top 10 posted times all fell within a second while Porsche, KTM, Mercedes-AMG, Ginetta, Chevrolet and McLaren were all represented within that top 10.

Of note, Pirelli GT4 America Sprint series driver championship co-leaders coming into the weekend –   Gar Robinson in the No. 74 Chevrolet Camaro GT4 and Ian James in the No. 50 Panoz Avezzano GT4 posted the 10th and 15th fastest times of the session respectively (Robinson with a 1:25.052, James with a 1:25.556).

Pirelli GT4 America Sprint competitors next take to the track at 1:05 EST for qualifying. Pirelli GT4 America SprintX Qualifying competitors then take to the track for their qualifying session at 2:30 pm in preparation for their first race of the weekend with a green flag scheduled start at 5:30 pm.
