TechSport Racing has renewed its agreement with its sim racing group for 2026, this time under a new name: TechSport Sim Team
Along with the refresh brings new goals for the program, competing for the top spots in numerous premier iRacing Esports series at the forefront.
“When we got things started in the summer of 2024, and even throughout most of last year, we were really just testing the waters and trying to figure out how this could work. Now that we’ve got a solid foundation and a plan to build from for 2026 onwards, we’re looking to bolster our presence and improve ourselves both on and off the track to show both worlds what our program can do for upcoming virtual talents as well as real-world drivers.” States Jake Cummings, general manager of TechSport Sim Team.
One of the program's benefits is the creation of a cross-training environment where sim racers and racecar drivers collaborate to enrich each other's skills. The program allows sim racers to experience real-world on-track testing and coaching provided by real racers, with an ultimate goal of bridging sim and reality by earning sim racers race seats in real-world amateur sports car series. It also gives real-world TechSport Racing drivers access to enhanced online training in preparation for SRO and IMSA support events.
A few fruits of the team’s labor have already come to fruition, with the two best sim racers from 2024’s roster completing their first-ever track day with TechSport Racing at Carolina Motorsports Park last spring in a Toyota GR86 T3. Another track day event is planned for this coming spring, this time in a Toyota GR Cup Car. Three drivers were also invited to compete in the PRI Show’s Sim Racing Arena Invitational in Indianapolis back in December, the team bringing home a 3rd-place trophy for their efforts.
The sim racers on the starting roster for 2026 include:
Jake Cummings: General Manager, PRI Sim Racing Arena 2025 Podium-Finisher
Brett Gardner: Team Painter/Graphic Designer
Edwin Onofre: Content Creator
Ian Brown: Setup & Strategy Coordinator
TechSport Racing has a rich history in sim racing going back to the late 90’s. With team owner Kevin Anderson being one of the original online racers using the “Hawaii” network for the Papyrus NASCAR Racing series of sims. TechSport Racing won the inaugural live SRO Esports event at Indianapolis Motor Speedway with team manager and pro driver Devin Anderson, son of Kevin Anderson.
The 2026 Sim Racing schedule includes, but is not limited to:
NA GR Cup Esports League
Porsche Esports Carrera Cup NA Qualifiers
