- Phil Bloom/Toby Grahovec/Stevan McAleer trio race to the GT4 lead in wild SRO 8-Hour
- Young Chandler Hull & Toby Grahovec hit in Race 1 GT4 SprintX, Take 6th in Race 2
INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Some wild action and crazy weather conditions were part of the Fast Track Racing/Classic BMW team’s GT4 competition this weekend at the legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway with drivers Chandler Hull, Stevan McAleer, Phil Bloom and Toby Grahovec racing in the GT4 SprintX and Intercontinental GT Challenge 8-Hour races.
In the Pirelli GT America SprintX doubleheader, young Texas racer Hull teamed veteran Grahovec in the No. 26 TACenergy/Classic BMW BMW M4 GT4 sports car for the two 60-minute, two-driver events on Thursday and Friday. Thursday’s opening GT4 SprintX contest was a short one for the Hull/Grahovec pairing as their mount was struck by another car and forced in the retaining wall. The Fast Track Racing crew worked all night to be ready for Race 2 at 8 a.m. Friday morning.
In the Race 2 action, Hull and Grahovec fought back from 16th starting position to finish sixth at the checkered flag at the 2.439-mile, 14-turn IMS road circuit.
In Sunday’s eight-hour Intercontinental GT Challenge, rainstorms began right at the green flag in the morning at IMS and proved to create havoc throughout the first couple of hours. The trio of Bloom, McAleer and Grahovec came from three laps behind in the first hour to take the GT4 class lead by the fourth hour. The three drivers fought hard to stay in the top-three in GT4 before a broken shock ended their day in the last hour in the No. 26 Fast Track Racing/Classic BMW BMW M4 GT4 sports car.
“We had some tough luck in the GT4 SprintX as well as the 8-Hour races,” said Grahovec. “We fought back great from three laps down to take the lead in the GT4 class. But a shock broke late in the race.”
