Auto Technic Racing Poised for a Successful Start to the 2022 Pirelli GT4 America Season

Auto Technic Racing is poised for a successful start to the 2022 Pirelli GT4 America championship bringing three BMW M4 GT4 cars. Each car and driver pairing will be competing in one of the three different categories within the championship. Building on experience from last season, car #52 will be piloted by returning contenders John Capestro-Dubets and Tom Capizzi. With four podiums and one overall win in 2021, this pairing is ready to capitalize on improvements developed in the off season and experience gained during last year's championship bid where they ultimately finished 4th in the Pro-AM division. Capestro-Dubets is excited to bring along Austen Smith whom he has mentored throughout Smith’s two previous TC America seasons, as well as new found talent in Alex Filsinger and Rob Walker who will drive the team’s third entry.

Austen Smith joins 2020 GT4 America AM champion, Zac Anderson to compete in the silver pairing driving the #51 BMW M4 GT4. Austen is graduating from his previous successful touring car season where he finished 3rd in the drivers championship and helped Auto Technic take home 1st in the team competition. Anderson, coming back to GT4 competition after his successful GT4 America championship run in 2020 where he was also named rookie of the year, will be new to the BMW chassis but is looking forward to capitalizing on the talent of himself and co-driver.

Newcomers to the team and series, Alex Filsinger and Rob Walker will round out Auto Technic Racing’s three car effort driving the #53 BMW M4 GT4 in the Am category. Alex and Rob are both long time Porsche and BMW Club drivers who have shared podiums at many different tracks driving endurance racing cars over the last few years. They have an unbeatable dynamic when they are paired together in the car and are both ready to prove that they have what it takes to compete in professional racing for their first full season.

Auto Technic Racing is looking forward to starting the 2022 season April 15-17th at Sonoma Raceway and continuing as a full season effort at the six other venues the series visits this year.
