CrowdStrike Racing Looks to Win for the Home Crowd in Austin

CrowdStrike Racing is hoping there’s no place like home this weekend when it competes at Circuit of The Americas near Austin, Texas for a full weekend of SRO Motorsports America action.

The 3.4-mile, 20-turn COTA venue will see three CrowdStrike Racing entries take part in three of SRO America’s five series from Friday through Sunday:

  • Fanatec GT World Challenge America Powered by AWS: No. 04 CrowdStrike Mercedes-AMG GT3 from CrowdStrike by Riley driven by George Kurtz and Colin Braun
  • GT America Powered by AWS: No. 04 CrowdStrike Mercedes-AMG GT3 from CrowdStrike by Riley driven by George Kurtz
  • Pirelli GT4 America: No. 92 CrowdStrike/AWS BMW M4 GT4 from Random Vandals Racing driven by Kevin Boehm and Kenton Koch

In the headlining GT World Challenge America championship, Kurtz and Braun lead the Pro-Am Drivers Championship on the strength of two victories with the No. 04 CrowdStrike Mercedes-AMG GT3. The duo were victorious on the opening weekend at Sonoma Raceway in California and took another win in the most recent event at NOLA Motorsports Park near New Orleans.

The Kurtz/Braun team has experienced success before at COTA with a victory in 2021 as well as a pair of runner-up finishes in the past.

Kurtz has also built  solid momentum from the NOLA event in GT America, having claimed a runner-up finish in the second of two 40-minute, single-driver races of the weekend. Since the start of the season in St. Petersburg, Kurtz and the No. 04 CrowdStrike by Riley have reeled off three podium finishes – two runner-up results and a third-place finish – in the last four races to remain in the hunt for a second straight GT America championship. Like in GT World Challenge America, Kurtz has tasted victory before at COTA in single-driver championships with two victories in GT4 competition during the 2017 season.

Boehm has had his fair share of victories at COTA as well – three in the Touring Car competition since the 2020 season. A two-time champion in Touring Car classes, this year’s COTA round will mark his first in a GT4 race car at the circuit.

Boehm and Kenton Koch team together in the No. 92 CrowdStrike BMW M4 GT4. The new driving duo has shown promise early in the season. The Random Vandals Racing pair claimed second place in the Sonoma weekend finale and were on pace for a similar result at NOLA before the BMW lost power not long after the race’s mandatory driver change. Boehm and Koch have shown speed and consistency so far in the CrowdStrike BMW, which is promising as the team heads to Austin.

CrowdStrike Racing Supporters out in Full Force at Austin

With Circuit of The Americas serving as the home race for CrowdStrike Racing, there are a number of activities planned to showcase the brand’s involvement off and on the track.

CrowdStrike is the Official Cloud and Internet Security Provider for SRO Motorsports America, and the role comes with the job of protecting data and preventing breaches of SRO properties.

That is part of the reason CrowdStrike holds CXO Summits at select races that allow CrowdStrike VIPs an opportunity to meet and discuss current trends in cloud computing and cybersecurity with industry thought leaders from CrowdStrike and AWS. Additionally, in Austin, CXO guests will have a number of opportunities to get closer to the action. Guests will have the chance to tour the racetrack, be part of meet-and-greet sessions with CrowdStrike Racing teams and drivers, enjoy trackside hospitality, give the command to start engines, wave the green flag for any of the six races featuring CrowdStrike Racing and present trophies to winners during post-race podium ceremonies.

CrowdStrike Racing competes at Circuit of The Americas near Austin, Texas from Friday, May 19 through Sunday, May 21.

Driver quotes ahead of the Austin SRO America weekend

George Kurtz, No. 04 CrowdStrike Mercedes-AMG GT3: “We are coming into this race looking to build on the points lead and two wins we have already earned this season. Colin and I work very well together, and the CrowdStrike by Riley team hasn’t missed a beat at all this year. I’m hopeful we can continue that at COTA and carry that momentum deep into the season.”

Colin Braun, No. 04 CrowdStrike Mercedes-AMG GT3: “We had a really good test in COTA recently and I am excited for the weekend. George had incredible confidence and pace at the test, and we have some great momentum from the last two events! This CrowdStrike/Riley team is hungry for results and we are focused on executing and improving each weekend, the work ethic of this group is so high and that makes it a lot of fun. COTA is a very unique track that requires a lot out of the drivers and the car setup, but we are ready to tackle it!”

Kevin Boehm, No. 92 CrowdStrike/AWS BMW M4 GT4: “Our results this season haven't matched our pace at times, but that has further motivated the team to perform at our best heading to COTA. Many things about this year's program are new and every step we take – even ones where we struggle – get us closer to our goal. COTA is a track where I've had a lot of success in the past, so I will leverage that experience to help get us on track for a strong push to the midpoint of our season. We’re looking forward to getting on track in the CrowdStrike/AWS BMW M4 GT4 powered by Random Vandals Racing.”
