As the SRO Motorsports America paddock prepares to take on the famous bumps and rough terrain of Sebring International Raceway, we caught up with some of our very own Florida-based drivers to gather their thoughts about racing at their home track.
Justin Rothberg, No. 29 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3, Fanatec GT World Challenge Powered by AWS
Residence: Miami
“I’m really happy to be racing in Sebring. It's a new track for me, but it's obviously riddled with history and it's close to my house so I’m fortunate that I can have my family and friends come out to see us race in this event. It will be really nice to have a group to support us at this race, especially at such a historic track. We’re hoping for some good results!”
Robby Foley, No. 29 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3, Fanatec GT World Challenge Powered by AWS
Residence: Miami
“It’s great to be racing again in Sebring this weekend. It's kind of become my home track, as I’m living about two and a half hours south of Miami. I've had great success here in the past in different races. So hopefully we can have another good weekend with Justin and the team, and continue where we left off at Sonoma.”
Michael Auriemma, No. 89 RENNtech Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT4, Pirelli GT4 America
Residence: Miami
“It’s great to be so close to home, I just already feel more fresh and ready to get started. We have a lot of family and friends coming out to cheer us on at this event. It’s really nice, we’ll have a lot of support for the weekend. We’re coming off a win at Sonoma, which we were very excited about, so we’ll see if we can keep the momentum going.”
Matheus Leist, No. 89 RENNtech Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT4, Pirelli GT4 America
Residence: Sarasota
“Sebring is my home race, so I’m very excited. I live about an hour away from here, so it’s great to be able to be so close. We’re going to have some family and friends over for the race, so we’re really looking forward to that. It’s going to be a hot one, but we’re pretty used to that. Looking forward to a great week!”
Eric Powell, No. 22 TechSport Racing Nissan Z NISMO GT4, Pirelli GT4 America
Hometown: Orlando
“It's always nice to come back to Florida and to be able to see my family and friends when I’m here. It’s a great opportunity for them to be able to come out and enjoy the races without needing to travel too far. My dad will be coming down to Sebring for the weekend to watch the race and I’m really looking forward to having him here with me.”
Eric Filgueiras, No. 28 RS1 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, Pirelli GT4 America
Residence: Fort Lauderdale
Hometown: Cocoa Beach
“I’m very excited to be racing in Florida, it’s where I grew up, I was born and raised here. Sebring is my home track, and it’s a home race for RS1 as well. Looking forward to racing here, between the team as a whole and myself as a driver we share a lot of knowledge and experience at this track and we’re confident we can do well this weekend.”
Tyler Gonzalez, No. 68 Smooge Racing Toyota Gazoo Racing GR Supra GT4 EVO, Pirelli GT4 America
Residence & Hometown: St. Cloud
“I'm from St. Cloud, which is about an hour and a half drive away from here, so this is definitely a home track for me. I've done thousands upon thousands of laps at Sebring. I love the area and the town, and just enjoy being here in general. I spend a lot of time at this track and can't wait to get out here in a GT4 car and see what we can do.”
Terry Borcheller, No. 20 Carrus Callas Raceteam BMW M4 GT4 (G82), Pirelli GT4 America
Residence: Vero Beach
Hometown: Crystal River
“In racing, it's not very often that you get to sleep in your own bed, so I enjoyed being able to stay an extra night at home. I love it here, this is a very special place for me. I’ve won here before and I've been racing here since the late 80s, early 90s in Formula Fords, so I have a lot of experience at this track.”
Jason Bell, No. 2 Flying Lizard Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3, GT America Powered by AWS
Residence & Hometown: Tampa
“One of the great things about racing in Florida is obviously the great tracks we have here in this state. It’s also wonderful to be able to share these weekends with a lot of family and friends who get to attend the race. I also just love the heat!”
Tim Savage, No. 007 ProSport Competition Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3, GT America Powered by AWS
Residence & Hometown: Naples
“I’m very excited to be here. It's my first time here racing in this car. I’m really looking forward to it, the team has been working hard and the car felt great. I'm from Naples, so this is my home track. I’ve done a lot of laps here but there’s always more to learn. Sebring is always a challenge, and that's why I love it.”
Isaac Sherman, No. 098 Rotek Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, GT America Powered by AWS

“I feel great to be racing here at Sebring. It's definitely hot, so I'm still getting used to that, but the car has been handling very well and I'm really looking forward to the races this weekend.”
