- Holt & Stripling team up in Lupe Tortilla BMW M4 in 3-hour Pirelli GT4 America Event
- JR & Nick Roberts back in COTA action with the BMW M4 GT3 & BMW M2 CS Cars
The successful Fast Track Racing sports car team makes an impressive return to SRO America competition this weekend (May 17-19) as the Texas-based squad enters three BMW machines in three separate divisions at Circuit of the America’s (COTA) 3.426-mile, 20-turn road course east of Austin.
Fast Track Racing, winners of several SRO national road racing championships, brings its popular BMW sports cars to the legendary road circuit for five events including the Saturday (May 18) three-hour endurance race for the Pirelli GT4 America class with drivers Judson Holt and Denny Stripling in the No. 188 Lupe Tortilla BMW M4 GT4 mount.
The father-son duo of J.R. and Nick Roberts will also campaign this weekend for Fast Track Racing in twin sprint events with John in the No. 30 Data One BMW M4 GT3 car in the GT America powered by AWS races and Nick in the No. 29 Data One BMW M2 CS (Cup) machine in the TC America powered by Skip Barber contests on Saturday and Sunday.
“We are very pleased to field three strong BMW sports cars this weekend at COTA,” said Toby Grahovec, Fast Track Racing team manager and former TC America national champion. “It’s always great to be back and compete at a legendary track like COTA, and we have prepared excellent cars for Judson, Denny, J.R. and Nick. We have been in victory lane at COTA in previous years and we hope to put our our BMWs back there again. We’re excited for this weekend.”
Holt and Stripling are no strangers to the famed COTA road course as they make their SRO America debuts in the Am division in the unique three-hour GT4 action on Saturday beginning at 5 p.m. CDT.
“We have many laps at COTA over the years,” said Stripling, the Cybersecurity executive from McKinney, Tex. “We are racing against a tough field this weekend, but the Fast Track Racing team prepares an outstanding BMW M4 for us. Judson and I are very excited to compete in the three-hour GT4 race. The new BMW M4 is a tremendous machine, and the team has had success at COTA over the years. I believe we are ready for the challenge on Saturday.”
Holt, CEO of the Texas-based Lupe Tortilla Texas Mexican restaurant chain, started his motorsports career in drag racing before jumping into the road racing field in his 40s, a few years ago. Now, Katy, Tex., racer teams with veteran Stripling in the three-hour race.
“Denny has a ton of experience at COTA, and I have been there many times myself," said Holt. “Fast Track Racing’s new BMW M4 is a quick car, and we have been testing at Eagles Canyon Raceway (in Decatur, Tex.). So, I feel confident about our chances this Saturday in the GT4 three-hour race. The team is one of the best in sports car racing in this country and we are well-prepared for the COTA weekend. I’m excited to hit the track when practice opens on Friday.”
The Roberts duo return to SRO America action at COTA with J.R. in the new No 30 Fast Track Racing BMW M4 GT3 machine with Data One livery. Roberts is CEO for General Datatech (“GDT”) in Dallas since its inception in 1996. General Datatech is an international multi-vendor IT solutions provider. It specializes in the consulting, designing, deploying and managing of advanced technology solutions for businesses, government and healthcare.
Nick, a current student when not racing, showed excellent potential last year in the TC America TCX category with his No. 29 Date One BMW M2 CS (Cup) car including a strong fourth place at Road America last year in his fourth TCX race.
The Fast Track Racing team will be on track at COTA this weekend beginning at 8:30 a.m. CDT on Friday with GT America powered by AWS practice. TC America powered by Skip Barber practice gets underway at 9:15 a.m. CDT on Friday while Pirelli GT4 America practice starts at 12:05 p.m. CDT.
The races at COTA are scheduled for Saturday with TC America Race 1 at 10:50 a.m., GT America Race 1 at 3:25 p.m. CDT and Pirelli GT4 America Race 1 at 5 p.m. CDT. Sunday’s events are set for GT America Race 2 at 9:35 a.m. CDT and TC America Race 2 at 10:35 a.m. CDT.
